Behind M&H: Kamkor Zhurek "Caring Heart"

We’d like you to meet Қамқор Жүрек (Kamkor Zhurek or Caring Heart), a publicly funded group launched in Taraz, Kazakhstan by Victoria Charbonneau and Elizabeth Turnock in 2015.

Their main objective is to help the most vulnerable people in Taraz—orphans, single mothers, disabled, widowed and elderly—who come to them with nowhere else to go for help. They seek to empower and provide them with opportunities to build better lives for themselves and their families.

They're working to build a safe, loving community for orphans, single mothers, and others who are marginalized. They surround those in need with people who care about them and give them a place to call home, helping them to heal and move on to build productive lives.

Adults and children alike who seek help at Caring Heart quickly learn that they are uniquely created for a special purpose. Caring Hear provides not only basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter, but also addresses their emotional, medical, and educational needs, giving them new skills and a solid foundation for fulfilling their unique calling.

Their long-term vision is to see this model duplicated elsewhere in Kazakhstan and other parts of the world.

This last month alone, Caring Heart invested in medicines and vitamins for the women and children currently in their care. They helped four single mothers with housing, bought gifts to celebrate birthdays, purchased groceries to feed 130 people a day, paid the electricity and gas for the house, and bought a new washing machine for all the laundry being done each day. 

It costs Caring Heart approximately 300,000T ($722,82 USD) each day to provide nutritious meals and snacks to those who are in their care.

Mjölk & Honey is excited to be working with Caring Heart to produce a new product slated for release this summer. Through this partnership, Caring Heart is able to employ and support women from their program and community.

We are beside ourselves with joy at being a part of this project and can’t wait for you to see what the artisans of Caring Heart are creating for Mjölk & Honey. We will continue to support them with an additional tithe from each sale that will go directly back to them.
